What Makes Thinking Beautiful: How Human Connection Makes Us More Creative.

Carolyn Hadlock | Principal & Executive Creative Director, Young & Laramore

11am

Carolyn created the blog Eunoia—the shortest word in the English language, which means "beautiful thinking: when she became the first ECD at Young & Laramore. She'll share the evolution of the blog from personal education and inspiration to a thought leadership platform for the agency. She’s gotten inside the heads of founders, CEOs, authors and creatives in industries from ice cream to Airstreams for her Beautiful Thinkers series. Though these people come from different disciplines, they share one common thing: a story about how humanity shaped their experience and turned them into the leaders they are today. In having these conversations, she discovered how making connections with people and their perspectives (which is something we’ve been missing out on in this period of self-isolation) can make us better creatives, leaders and people. In this session, she will unpack these journeys and together we’ll learn how to develop and channel our own beautiful thinking.

Her vision and thoughtful leadership improves every campaign she touches, and her creative direction has delivered results for clients including Brizo, Stanley Steemer, Trane, Hotel Tango Distillery, Goodwill and many others—even an order of Carmelite Nuns.

Upon joining Y&L in 1991, Carolyn quickly began earning recognition and awards from such industry authorities as ADC, The One Show, Communication Arts, Cannes, Graphis and Effies. Her campaigns have been featured on NBC’s Today Show, NPR, and in The Wall Street Journal, LA Times and USA Today. She has judged regional, national and international competitions including Communication Arts Advertising Annual, The One Club Automotive Awards, and North American Effies.

Carolyn is passionate about developing talent and helped found The Creative Leaders Retreat with The One Club in 2014. In 2016 she created the blog Eunoia: Beautiful Thinking when she became the first ECD the agency ever had as a way to become a student of the industry again. What started as a personal development project has expanded into a thought leadership platform for the agency.
