Navigating the Future: Key Colorado Advertising Trends in 2025

By Ryan Seaver, Business Development Director, Frndly TV

Time certainly flies! It's hard to believe we are already in late February.

There is no doubt that 2025 will bring significant changes to the advertising landscape. AI-driven tools like ChatGPT and DALL-E are set to revolutionize ad creation, enabling more personalized and cost-efficient campaigns. Immersive formats for AR/VR and other interactive ads will also gain traction, enhancing user engagement. Data privacy remains a key focus, with stricter regulations like CCPA pushing advertisers to rely more heavily on their first-party data and privacy-compliant AI tools.

Retail Media is experiencing rapid growth, with in-store advertising becoming increasingly critical as consumers make important purchase decisions directly in retail environments. Social commerce is also expanding to become a crucial sales channel by integrating overdue user shopping features. Sustainability will continue to be a driving force, as consumers increasingly prefer authentic and purpose-driven brands that align with their values.

Colorado seems to be undergoing constant change. We have new laws for hands-free driving, increased minimum wage, and the legalization of therapeutic psilocybin. Housing affordability and AI regulation are important Colorado legislative topics. Job growth is projected at 1.2%, with slower population growth affecting workforce availability and economic dynamics.

Colorado advertising will see similar shifts in 2025. Businesses must comply with the updated Colorado Privacy Act (https://coag.gov/resources/colorado-privacy-act/), which emphasizes protecting minors' online activity and requires transparency in data collection and usage. The Outdoor Advertising Act (SB21-263: https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb21-263) prohibits advertising devices near scenic byways and limits digital displays on highways. Regardless, Retail Media Networks (RMNs) are still expanding by integrating more Colorado in-store and digital ad placements. AI-driven personalization and programmatic media buying will enhance targeting and ROI for advertisers. Short-form video content on other platforms like TikTok and Instagram continues to dominate local campaigns, while AI tools will optimize ad creation and future customization.
